About the Pub
The Swan is a 300-year-old building that was once known as the Coach and Horses. It was originally known as Hog Sty Farm with a small coach house attached where horses could be rested and watered. Part of the original farmhouse building can be found embedded in the cellar walls of the Swan. Hog Sty End was at the crossroads of the tracks from Woburn, Bow Brickhill, Aspley Guise and Wavendon. This provided passing trade and afforded the opportunity to deal goods and refreshments to travellers. The road from Hockliffe to Woburn was turnpiked in 1706 and after it was extended through Hogsty End to Kingston Bridge. In 1727 business would have increased as a well-maintained road, and the stages that took this road brought more trade to the Inns that opened to service the passers by.
The Swan boasts a stylish interior which adds to the traditional charm and character of the building. Features include roaring open fires, and several cosy areas to relax in. Guests will get great, friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere.
