Best Dining Experience
I was introduced to the pub as a result of our works Christmas do, where some 2 dozen of us had a really lovely event, The traditional Christmas meal (turkey with everything) was enjoyed by many, as were the free choice meals. Yes we had pre-ordered our individual choice from the really good selection, but the pub was just about full to capacity with a couple of other group does. The staff were very attentive and ensured that all the dishes were served together, and what dishes they were! The portions were generous, and the plates - and importantly the food on them - were hot, we were not rushed and the intervals between courses was just right. An extremely pleasant experience all round.

As a result, when my friends from Scotland recently visited, we went there for dinner. Having enquired whether the Venison that I had previously enjoyed so much would be available, you can imagine our joy when the chef himself came out to see us as we were seated , to confirm that it was. We all enjoyed the various individual courses very much, including tasters across the table, so much that we found great difficulty in nominating a favourite. Throughout the meal the attention from the really friendly, and professional staff, was exemplary - ensuring a truly wonderful evening. One of, if not the best, dining experiences we have enjoyed, definitely to be repeated many more times.

Recently visited the Shepherd and Flock. Found the bar staff to be helpful and friendly, with a good seletion of ales. There slogan is the Fresh Food Pub and it has certainly lived up to that. There's a good choice of freshly made baguettes and sandwhiches, with traditional home made pub food. Such as, Steak and Ale pie and Shepherds pie. We chose from the specials board Venison, which was cooked to perfection, and the Confit of Duck which was delicious. This came with a selection of fresh vegetables. We were informed that all the sweets were homemade, so we had Sticky Toffee Pudding with hot toffee sauce, warm Chocolate Peacan Pie with Maple Syrup and delicious Vanilla Icecream. Prices were reasonable, service was efficiant and friendly. Definately recommended.

Review of Shepherd & Flock
We took a friend here for dinner for his 21st Birthday last Friday and I would highly recommend it!

I am writing this review as before we went I could not seem to find anything on this pub. There is a wide choice of food available on the menu, plus even more on the specials board. The average price for a main meal was around 8-10, although fillet steak was 16. (Rump was 11). Considering the size and quality of the meals I would say the prices are very fair. Drinks are also reasonably priced, and if you are into your real ales then there is a wide selection available. Food was also served promptly after ordering, and the two that had steaks said they were both spot on!

Bearing in mind that we went on a Friday evening, I was fairly surprised that the restaurant was not too busy (about half full). We had booked a table but when we got there we were able to choose any one we wanted.

Probably the best part about the evening was how accommodating the staff were. As it was our friend's 21st, we had already bought him a small cake and candles, and following a quiet word in one of the waiter's ears, we gave them the cake and candles to bring out following the dinner. This they did, complete with a bit of 'Happy Birthday' singing, much to the surprise of our friend.

As if having our cake and eating it wasn't enough, once we received the bill we were quite pleasantly surprised to find that they had missed off a couple of rounds! (Whether this was an accident or not we are not sure but we did keep quiet, however we did give them a nice tip!) Total cost for a meal for four people 44 - not bad at all!

If you get the opportunity then definitely go there, I will certainly be revisiting!
