Debra Verity
Family Country Pub
As one of the owners of the Royal Oak. I am grateful and pleased to see the positive and encouraging comments from customers. However please don't send in comments which are not appropriate or are crude and silly and rather offensive to the staff and their families at the Royal Oak.

This pub has a real 'buzz'
This little pub has recently been under new management. What a difference that has made. It has a wonderul atmosphere now and getting busier by the week. New chef too, I believe, and the food does look very good. We will eat there next time we visit.

A little gem of an Inn
We passed here a lot whilst we were on holiday. We had pleasant and polite service. Good pub food, which was well priced and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. If only it wasn't our last night. We would defo call again if we ever pass (hopefully the management and staff will remain).

Fire Ash
Had what was a very well cooked meal here and was enjoying it until a man (who I later learned was the owner) opened the wood burner about 3 times and covered us, our table and my fish and chips in ash and filled the pub with smoke. A pleasant chap who had served us couldn't apologise enough and refunded my meal. He seemed quite embarrassed and had in fact mentioned to the owner that he was filling the pub with smoke. Maybe we'll go again when the weather is warmer and no need for a fire!

i found this pub to be friendly and steeped in history the food was of a high standard but i found the landlord to be abrupt and rude with no manners to speek of and for this reason alone i would refrain from going again what a shame as this was a wonderfully spot
