After a long period in the doldrums the pub has changed its name to THE DROPPING WELL with new people in charge I am delighted to say it has returned to being the friendly country pub it once was. Excellent beer and real home cooked food. (10.feb.2012)

Dissatisfied & management with attitudes!
Called on Sunday 17/07/05. Had to wait 15 mins to get drinks with bar staff not taking account of who was waiting longest. Unbelievable apathy towards customers (several just walked away). Landlady breaking off serving customers to see to young son shouting mum annoyingly to get attention for food, which amazingly not the fish fingers he wanted but Sunday dinner appears so he can proceed to sit outside and eat it in front of other customers who are kept waiting. Ordered food (which took 20 mins to order and then further delayed whilst they looked for a pad to put the order on).Feeling somewhat embarassed 35 mins later sitting with no drinks, went to get more and getting asked what I wanted after a few mins, pointed to the young girl to my left getting stressed out over being totally ignored by the bar staff and landlady, trying to order a sweet of two ice creams (who another customer commented on at the length of time and way the young girl was being ignored). Pointed to the young girl to be served next. Mistake.....she was served and I was ignored for a frurther 10 mins, getting served after later arrivals at the bar. After waiting a total time of 1 hour for our food and asking where it was, informed by the waitress (after asking what we had ordered and checking in the pub)our order was lost and our money refunded, no apologies just a blaze here's your money. Talking to the Manager over what had occured, and the shoddy way we were trying to be shunned away, his attitude was somewhat to be desired, disgusting and coming over as tough, you've bought drinks so I've got some money off you and you can have your money back for the food because we don't care. This may be a place where the Staff and Management can cope and be nice to customers whilst there are few punters in, but come over as amateurish and out of their depths when a little busier.

PS. After commenting to other sites of good service and meals, this is the first time I have had to write a bad report. The staff seem unable to cope whilst the Manager and his Landlady stroll about lethargic as though they need a firework........... Pity can't put a negative rating in.
