Average pub with acceptable food.
I had lunch here recently and thought it fairly average, with room for improvement; certainly not somewhere I'd go for an 'occasion'. The food was obviously not home made although perhaps home cooked could be claimed and while acceptable was in no way special. I'm not a big eater, but thought some portions a little on the small side. The staff, though, need to review their idea of customer relationships - shouting 'I don't know what you're talking about' along the bar in answer to a customer's straight-forward request is not attractive or endearing.

Overall, a pub which is OK for a quick convenient lunch, but not worth travelling to.

Recently went to this pub for a quiet drink and bite to eat with friends while on a weekend away. Food was cold when brought to the table and we returned it 2nd time it was still luke warm so we asked to speak to the manager, we were greeted by an angry French sounding man who said he was in charge and what did we want because it was lunchtime and he was busy. We advised that the food was cold and we would like it returned and a fresh plate brought out. Obviously the manager didnt like the request and told us if we didnt like the food we could f**k off and eat somewhere else! Obviously we were shocked and disgusted by this outburst and immediately left the pub. If you go here make sure you dont have any critisism or you will be heavily insulted!!!

Reasonable pub food
Don't go looking here for a gastropub. The food was acceptable but not exceptionable.
Starter - New Zealand Mussels with Blue Cheese. A bit of mistake as the large mussels were overwhelmed by the cheese.
Main - Sirloin Steak - good and cooked to my requirements, chips not great. Pudding - good selection, Tiramisu was good but not the best I have had.
What we paid for 3 course plus drink at bar and bottle of wine worked out at £30/head - In my view a bit high for what it was.

sunday lunch 30/05/2006
Starter.. Fantastic. Prawn cocktail was very nice. Maybe to large a portion but still very tasty.

Main meal.. Terrible. I had roast turkey which seemed to be more like a Bernard Matthews processed meat. Not very tasty and obviously not very fresh. As with the roast potatoes, again processed and obviously cooked from frozen, mostly still quite raw on the inside. Then when things couldn't get any worse !.. Vegetables ( covered in cheese ) Broccoli which I donít like. Cauliflower cheese which I also don't like. Carrots which I do like ( but had residue of cheese on them..yuk..So I asked the waitress for Vegetables without cheese.. Sorry but none available..Eating at 12.30pm I can only assume that the vegetables for the rest of your lunchtime covers had already been prepared ?..

My friends meal of Spare ribs ( which he had a refund for ) was more like spare tyres A bone with very little meat and excessive fat..

Hence not a very nice meal.
