Great rooms, great food, great welcome
The Peat Spade has just re-opended after an extensive refit and as a consequence the rooms are extremely well appointed and comfortable.

The food is fantastic. There is a full English breakfast that is full of flavour and not fat or sauces and a dinner menu that si full of local, seasonal produce and fantastically well cooked, served and priced.

The atmosphere of the whole place is warm and unpretentious even if you are not fishing on the nearby Test. The landlady/owner, Claire, always ensures that your needs are met and exceeded.

Booking for dinner is absolutely necessary. Don't leave lunch bookings too late either.

An unexpected find
The last time we came to Stockbridge we made a great mistake by eating at a restaurant in the High Street which masquerades as a pub. It was very expensive, (London prices at least),the staff were arrogant and the food mimimalistic. Thank goodness we then found the Peat Spade, in nearby Longstock, a picture postcard village. Delightful people, both attentive and welcoming, really excellent food at affordable prices and a small but well chosen wine list. What's more the beer was real and well cared for. What a find! They do seem to have been discovered though so we will book next time.

Great place to eat
The pub is actually in Longstock near Stockbridge. Myself and my partner Sarah Hinman own and run the pub. We major in food using mainly organic and local produce. I am the chef and Sarah runs the front of house where she has devised an eclectic mix of wines and beers, some of which are either organic or bio-dynamic. We run a very relaxed but professional business. Are aim is to make people feel thoroughly at home, enjoy their time with us and leave with a feeling of wellbeing. We look forward to seeing you.
