About the Pub
I have been using this pub for a number of years and have seen some really bad points and some really good ones. My wife passed away last year and I had the reception here. The manager was extremely helpful and the catering was excellent. I continue to use this pub as the service and the food is great. Well done!!

I have been using this pub for a while now and the staff and manager are very knowledgeable about their food and drinks, they also know the local area and have many times in my presence advised tourists how to get to places of interest and pointed out the tourist information in the pub. The landlord has made locals feel welcome even if not eating. The food is good and fairly priced and the service is excellent, from dedicated staff. I have taken my family there when they visit me and they love the place and the humourous banter, as my dad said It's like a home form home with out the washing up. The event nights are a joy to attend with no trouble from anyone and children are welcome too!! Adi the manager has done a great job, I have used the pub when it was not managed by Adi and I was not impressed with the place, but I am now, it's a great place to meet and relax, with fantastic atmosphere and great people. Long live the Goodies and the people in it.

I was very disappointed when I went to the Good Companion, which was once my local. The staff, particulary the woman, were very off hand and not very helpful. The food, although not disgusting, was not what it used to be, and the manager is very rude and has no customer service skills at all and have heard many complaints from friends and family about him.

Friendly and helpful staff; good food which is freshly cooked and reasonably priced; clean and comfortable surroundings; pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. I have been to this pub many times and always look forward to my next visit.

Conduct unprofessional
I was one of a group of friends and relatives gathered to celebrate a 21 st birthday party on tuesday 8th march 2005.The majority of the group have been coming to the pub since 1996.The evening started with one of the nephews (aged 24)being asked to produce a driving license or passport to confirm age. This Inspite of producing other docs confirming his age.He duly obliged. Later the parents of a small child were advised that no small children were allowed after 9pm. They left with the child. (who apparently could have stayed if meals were being consumed !). Ok rules are rules, but the bar staff were off hand to the group as a whole throughout the evening. The landlady was not prepared to discuss any ensuing issues and at closing time the landlord just wanted all of us out soon as possible. Admittedly this is the only time we have encountered any problems but that does not excuse what can only be described as gross professional misconduct from the management and staff. The Landlord shouting you are all banned to each and every member of the group as we left was to say the least pathetic. How on earth would he react to a real problem ? On reflection he was fortunate that the group managed to remain cool under such provocation. No we were not impressed.

never go there
The pub was discusting dirty glasses and ash trays everywhere the manager screaming from a table to her staff behind the bar f****** stop leaning.when finally my food came it was served by a misserable dark haired girl very rude when I asked for ketchup she grunted to later find that this was the managers daughter it was of no shock too me. This is not a family pub I advice people to stay away. It also has a very unpleasant smell!!!

not a place I would go
Management just not helpful, bad attitude and I was sober. What a shame so much potential.

Oh well lots of other pubs and places to go who are family pubs.

Just my opinion.

Just say NO
