Dirty Dirty Dirty
Was at Porters for a bar lunch and was shocked at how dirty the place was. The lack of basic hygiene and cleanliness is shocking. I was ill after eating a burger and will never be back. The staff were rude and dirty looking, Be warned about this place. Go at your own risk.

We popped into Porters Bar following a shopping expedition more by chance than design and were pleasantly surprised by the service and food on offer. Great value and well worth the price. Oniion Rings are a must and the home made steak pie doesnt have the usual hard chewy meat but the meat that is tender and tasty. Well worth a visit. We were told the Karaoke sing songs are legendary so we may pop in again.

Thumbs Up
It's always been a great wee boozer and the food has always been basic but tasty and good value. It's just the kind of place you can pop into anytime and be comfy

Save the whale
Annaluseanaa whatever your name is. Sounds like you have the culinary taste of an amoeba, the stomach of an ox and are both blind and deaf. What did your guide dog think of the dog food you were eating? Was it no a wee but confused?

Great value food , fun night out
I came across this family run bar when I was over from Canada to visit my boyfriend. The food was wholesome, tasty and great value. Having been to some restaurants in the north of the country my faith in value for money scottish cuisine was restored here. The recently appointed new owners were in the process of giving the bar a much needed make over. We returned later and my boyfriend entertained me with a rousing rendition of 'Why does it always rain on me' It was a very enjoyable day for me and the staff were very helpful throughout the day.

A dump - avoid at all costs! Fried lunches for those who need a cholestrol attack. Bar staff look like they've been recuited by Ripleys.

save your dignity - avoid at all costs
A local den of something, I haven't quite placed my finger on it. When karaoke died this pub bought up the worldwide rights. You can find it all here scumbags, karaoke singers, comic gangsters, whores, whore mesters, pervs you name it -the finest collection of clientelle in the whole of the so-called city. Caught in a karaoke time warp this bar does nothing to endear the accidental visitor to return. Gorilla faced bouncers (and that's just the bird) adorn the doors to greet you with a friendly growl as you beadily try to see what the bar is like inside. Like a peep show perv you fumble your way in for the entire bar to stare at you vetting your every step until you reach the bar. The eyes are still upon you as you order your one and only half pint of 'let's get the fuck out of here' beer. A local grunts at you - is it hello or 'what the fuck are you looking at?' I don't want to find out. You would need a language degree to decipher what he said. I drink the beer quite fast as I get the impression that the locals have concluded that I am a half pint queer. it's easier to categorise me as such and if that means I don't get a kicking then so be it. I stealthily make my way to the door taking care not to bumb into someone or stand on their feet, a bit like negotiating a minefield especially on a karoke night. Persperation runs down me as I exit stage left onto the street only to be told by the bouncer 'that lassie inside is shouting on you'. No I don't think so, it's a honey trap - been there before. I kake my way to a 'safer' part of Stirling - my flat, where I take stock of my close enounter of the thirsty kind and vow never to return.

They were rude
John Muldoon and his party were rude to that party. Porters is great. I was there the visitors were very aggressive and hostile. Muldoon is a goon.

I was always under the impression that Porters Bar was a Lively & Friendly Pub, Where people went to meet up etc, how wrong was I. I arranged to meet 20 Colleagues there on 24/3/05 at 7.00pm before going to Papa Joe,s for a meal at 7.30. Granted we had 2 Under age Girls with us. The Barman said he could not serve us, which we accepted and went straight to the restuarant. AT 10.30 we left the restuarant minus the youngsters who got taxi home, to have the last couple of drinks in Porters, we opened the door and the Barman Shouted last orders, he was unpleasant and very rude to our party and rushed us out the door before 11.00. We will certainly not promote this pub or use it again

Good Value Meals
At 3.25 for soup and a main course from Monday to Friday I find Porters to be a superb deal. The menu is not the most exciting but the no frills approach is ideal if you feel like something quick but wholesome. The staff are also very pleasant and welcoming.
