About the Pub
This well frequented pub in the basement and on the corner of St Stephen Street and Kerr Street in the centre of Stockbridge is always popular on a Sunday(especially when live football is being shown). The large round dark wood central bar is attended by very friendly young staff. During the winter months there is always a roaring fire and newspapers available and although quite a dark pub a cosy atmosphere is achieved. To one side of the main room there is large area set out for dining although you can eat in the main bar if you wish. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are generous. For example there is a sizzling steak and chips skillet with the chefs sauce of the day and rarely have I seen such a large haddock and chips served in a pub. The clientele is mixed here from children in the dining area to elderley locals enjoying a whisky and a warm by the fire. They have a few real ales, a fair wine selection and a good selection of malts. This pub is definitely one of my favourite Sunday afternoon haunts!
