 Fantastic friendly pub great food
The Langley Tavern I am proud to say is my local,I moved to this area July 2012, and Julie and the gang have made me welcome ever since. It has a nice garden with a good play area and my little dog Pip is pub mascot and is spoilt by everyone . the chef Lon in the Thai Kitchen loves her to bits and she sits tail wagging looking at the kitchen door. I have eaten many times at the Langley far too many times too count ,Lon is an excellent chef his Thai food is to die for it is always nicely presented piping hot and delicious,as is the English dishes he makes at lunch times,if I could give more than 5 rosettes I would. They have live music Saturdays and quiz night Wednesday. they also have a music festival in August, which is fantastic and good fun,and a donation made to a charity from the proceeds. Last year £16,000 went to Southampton General hospital, already have my ticket for this year, and my family once again are travelling from Swindon for the festival,it is a great day out for all the family and has Lepe country park and beach just down the road, what more could anyone wish for. Thanks for being there for me guys

 Amazing food rude staff
Have been to the ship before and always enjoyed the food. Today was no exception but i found the staff extremely patronising and miaerable which made the overall experience quite negative - it may also explain their lack of customers

 Great Meals At The Ship.
Fifteen of us descended on the pub and ordered food. No two meals ordered were the same, even so they were all served up piping hot and within a few minutes of each other. On top of that all food was excellent. I had, and would recommend, the Rack of Ribs in BBQ sauce. The ribs come with a seperate dish of fries, another dish of salad and cole slaw.
Thankyou to all the staff for a very enjoyable evening.

 Unprofessional
Unprofessional - Obelisk Hotel - 20 July 2010 - I play in a band and we took 2 bookings at the Obelisk Hotel several months ago. When I telephoned them two weeks prior to the first event they tell us it's cancelled. Nobody from the Hotel bothered to contact me to inform me of this, saying We couldn't find your number despite clearly leaving my details for them upon booking. This is massively unprofessional behaviour and costs me money as I do it for a living. I could've taken bookings for both those dates and now will have to go without through no fault of mine. I wonder how they treat their hotel guests...

 chav-ville
We were in the Langley last weekend and it was slammed full of chavs and leary people. There were nowhere near enough tables and we ended up sitting out with the smokers which was pretty unpleasant. It is a shame as the Hampshire Yeoman is so dire and I had my hopes up about the Langley reopening.

Mr N Wilkes
 No Children Allowed!!
Today I tried to celebrate my Mothers 76th birthday in one of your pubs, the “Village Inn, Botley Road, Park Gate, SO31 1AZ”. Once my family were in your premises, and seated, we were then informed that we could not stay because I had two young sons with me, and your company rule is that you do not allow anyone under the age of 14 into your pubs. We were then asked to leave by Mr Simon Woods who was the Manager.

This should have been a special day for my Mother, but instead, your rules and staff have left me feeling very upset and discriminated against, by the way your company has treated my family, and I feel like informing the local press about your customer service. Discrimination in the UK is not acceptable, and I will now check to see if your company is legally allowed to have this rule.

I look forward to your comments and response to my experience today.

It depends on how long you have.......
I visited this establishment on Sunday 28 January 2007 with my wife, daughter, son-in-law and 4 year old granddaughter. The pub was not busy and so queried why the food had taken well over an hour. The staff had forgotten to put the order through and promised to do so immediately ahead of any queue. The meals duly arrived - one setting short. this eventually arrived another 10 minutes later. There was no apology, in fact the management seemed totally unphased by the problems we had. We did eventually receive complimentary sweets, but not until after complaining about our treatment.
To be fair, the food was plentiful and very tasty, although I would challenge the chef over the inclusion of Stilton cheese in the Stilton and leek pie - it was more like a cheese sauce!!
The staff did not seem to be very happy either - not surprising from the way we saw them treated by the duty management (or were they the owners?)

I have been in and out of the Brief for quite a few years now; Live music is awesome, full English for only £2.50, atmosphere is great and its all very friendly. There's been a lot of changes over the last year, toilets are good now, new paintjob and new furniture. Swiftly becoming one of my favourite places to be in Southampton.

 food and smoke
There is a lovely atmosphere in this pub and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The menu has changed and it is not as good as it used to be and nearly everything has bread/wheat in it so choices for wheat free people are limited. Also one side of the pub is devoted to smokers and you have to walk through this area to get to the toilets.

At last a pub with a good selection of well cooked
I was quite shocked when I found out I could reserve a table at this Pub/restaurant unlike many other places of this kind that will not allow this. On our arrival we were shown to are table and the menu was an eye opener. Well sourced Fillet steak, Halibut to die for, Over large Gammon, Whole Chickens.....etc Just a very good Restaurant hidden inside a vry good Pub. Try It!!!

Very nice pub - lots of character
I discovered the Pilgrim Inn last Summer when I spotted the brown AA sign while out on a day trip.

There are 2 houses - both charmingly thatched and resplendent with flowering baskets. One is an upscale restaurant, the other a pub which is where I ate.

The food was good and plentiful and for approximately £6 a plate, wonderful value. I am planning to return there this summer.

My only niggle is that smoking was allowed inside which slightly spoilt my first meal but on my second return I did sit in the gardens, which were very pleasant

 Highly recommended
Extremely friendly, local community pub with garden. Chris and Alan extend a very warm welcome to all. Old Speckled Hen and various other real ales on draft, all kept in superb condition.

Honestly, you will never find a place more welcoming, friendly or genuinely cool as the Hobbit. It's just fantastic. Try the cheesey chips.
