I can't comment on the food (which may indeed be excellent) because my friend and I left without ordering. We often go out for lunch on a Friday and almost invariably enjoy a good set lunch at a reasonable price. the Inn doesn't seem to offer such a menu. The menu on offer was a dinner-style menu and very expensive: not really what you are looking for at lunchtime. When we asked if there was a set menu we were told, rather bluntly, we could have a bowl of soup. The place was virtually empty and there was a peculiar smell in the dining room. We won't go back.

 we miss you
we spent wonderfull days and nights at the inn and have wonderfull memories . since changing owners i have tried over and over to stay and ask that we can vacate at 11 am rather than 10 am as its a weekend break . no is always the reply . i undrtstand family commitments but i want to eat there , use the bar and just feel relaxed . the terms to me are more like a b & b . am sad no exception on a sunday morning , only one hour , happy memories of the inn and we miss the way things used to be ,

A warm wellcome at the Country Inn
Fantastic place to stay and with Roger as a director with a great hart.
I was biking around Scotland and this day -after a trip of 180 kms- I couldn't find a place to camp. As a small light in the darkness, The Country Inn was my ultimate salvage. Roger offered me (as a lost son) a fine room with a comfortable bed and a real Scottish breakfast (with beautiful view over Loch Lomond) for a very reasonable price. Fantastic experience... !
I will certainly come back with wife and children.

great food, great service, great price !
I had the menu on the website, and as I was visiting Dunblane with my mum for the weekend, it seemed like a good choice for a meal for us.

The staff were all extremely friendly and accomodating and we were under no pressure to eat up and shift out. The food was absolutely delicious. Do not miss the beer battered cod with homemade chips and if you have room, you really have to try the sticky toffee pudding - it was the best I have EVER tasted !!!

All in all, a fantastic evening, and 2 people, 2 courses and 2 glasses of wine for under £40 !

I would be delighted to travel from Edinburgh just for the meal.

Mrs Lothian
Hear, hear Mr Grath. I am a regular visitor at the Sherrfimuir Inn and have always experienced exceptional service. Yes there are days when it is incredibly busy but the attention from the staff is always first class and when you consider that this is a family run business with the same staff always on duty you can only ever be sympathetic to the fact that serving has to stop at some time to allow people the opportunity to have a break before the evening rush. I can never decide which I like best lunch or evening dinner, both are an experience which should be sampled, relished and enjoyed. The food is divine and the service is second to none in the local area, it's even exceptional value for money - you don't find that often! My personal reccommendation would be the strawberry pavlova - yum yum, I have never tasted another one like it anywhere in the world. Sheriffmuir Inn deserves 5 stars for food, service, and vlaue for money.

 can't believe you rated it a 1!
Shocked to see Sheriffmuir Inn receive a rating of 1, particularly as most people give it full marks. I visited the Sheriffmuir Inn and had a great meal. The pub restaurant has a traditional menu with big portions, and a specials board for people who like something a bit different. The food and service was of an exceptional standard with a venue and atmosphere to match. The beautiful hills of Perthshire, which you can look at whilst you eat, are also something special!

Dr Ian & Mrs Kathy Fraser
 Scotland at its worst!
We had a lovely lunch here in late December when we celebrated our mother's life after a burial at nearby Logie Cemetery. As a young woman she had walked here with her fiance to eat bacon and eggs- this was the only place to enjoy this delicacy because of war rationing.
Different story when Ian and Kathy Fraser returned on Sat Feb 17th to revisit her grave and unwind with a half pint and a bowl of soup.
We had already enquired at the funeral lunch if we could bring our well behaved springer dog in to the bar area when we returned. Most welcome . Kathy went in to the bar first at about ten to two, just to check that we could come in to the bar area with said dog. We could indeed.
We sat until 2.15pm without being asked for an order- they were obviously busy, but we were not in a hurry. Eventually we managed to stop a running waitress to ask if we could have soup from the blackboard displayed in the bar. She informed us we were too late- orders stopped at 2pm. We explained we had been here since 1.50. She would ask the chef. Meanwhile a charming barman offered us a drink- had not realised we had not been served. We ordered drinks and crisps as we were somewhat hungry by this stage.
We were then accosted by the woman who had admitted us to the establishment in the first place who accused us of not having stated that we required food when we entered the establishment at 10 to 2. We were rather stunned by her agressive attitude ( as were other diners who raised their eyes skywards in sympathy) we only want a bowl of soup, we replied but if its too much trouble -better cancel the drinks too as we need some food
The upshot was that we got the soup, having to listen to a constant barrage of shouting from the kichen, which had been going on constantly. The ultimate screaming at a loud and long pitch suggested to us that there were major problems going on amongst the staff. Shame - the soup was ok!

Peter Carrigan (junior)
 Anyone remember Peter Carrigan?
My father Peter Carrigan died in Coventry 27 years ago. In his belongings i found a reference from the Wheatsheaf dated 01/03/1951. He was born and brought up in Kirkcaldy in 1929. Does anyone remember him please, or do they know his younger brother James or his son also called James as we lost contact years ago.

the wilson family
never been here before and found the place by accident. We only stopped for a drink but where impressed by the friendly staff and the way they chatted to people and made them feel welcome. We were greeted warmyly the minute we walked in by a delightful young lady who is marrying the chef soon. we will go back next time we visit, this time for a meal if the food tastes as good as it looked going past us!

 Top notch!!!
Yet again the Sheriffmuir Inn has changed hands and its newest owners have got it right. The old Bouzy Rouge décor remains but the atmosphere and the menu have both improved, most likely because it’s family run. Good old-fashioned friendly and attentive service and food cooked to a high standard…would definitely recommend!

 Very Friendly Pub
Welcoming village pub where you don't feel out of it if your not a local (No Slaughtered Lamb moments as you enter here.) Great food and a nice garden area for the odd day in Scotland when it doesn't rain.

There is never enough staff to cope with customers. The staff seem to take forever. Shorts are saturated in ice and cheap mixer, make sure to get bottled mixers. Good atmosphere though.

To see in the bells at the end of 2004 we chose Bar Itza for a party. The tickets we reasonably cheap and the bar FREE! What else could you ask for? Everyone was in the party spirit and the night was fab. The dj wasn't to be expected but didn't think he was geting paid for it anyway!! All and all great night. Good place to go for a laugh and a wee drink with your mates. Only ONE bad comment though, NO WEBSITE??? or it's murder to find? SORT THIS OUT BAR- ITZA!!!

 Better as a bouzy rouge
I've been to the restaurant while it was a Bouzy Rouge and recently since it has changed hands. You can't beat the location and the food has always been to a high standard although slightly better when a Bouzy Rouge was operating. Staff were friendly and atmosphere enjoyable. Would recommend

I just stay up the road from this pub so i decided to stop in on passing for a swift pint. When entering i noticed a large number of under agers. Felt very intimidated as they were using bad language and spitting on the floor. No place for a lady thats fo r sure.

 New Chef New Menu
I live only 20 minutes away and will rant and rave about this pub until I'm red in the face. Mark the new chef has really pulled out the stops and designed a first class menu.

Outstanding service and a good range of drinks. The warm but classy recently refurbished interior is fantastic and the food is absolutely outstanding.

If you are a tourist wanting to taste the real Scotland, The Sheriffmuir is the place to be.

 great place
I was recently on holiday from South Africa visting my parents in Buckhaven. Visted the pub on many occasions and found the service and food to be great . The owner remebered our order on our second visit. The waitress was very helpful and friendly and a real character - the type of person who adds to the atmosphere of the place and makes you want to come back
