Royal Oak Ray Cobley Watford Really not what we had expected!
Went in to the Oak earlier in the week, Thursday evening, to check out the menu and were made very welcome by the young girl behind the bar. Really helpful and welcoming so booked a table for this evening, Sat 28 Apr.She was very busy behind the bar and twice tried to attract the attention of the 2 waitresses to have us attended to. Perfuncturorily, one eventually got 5 guys to vacate a table for us to use.. No information as to whether orders would be taken at the table or whether we needed to order at the bar. We did though get served our meals within a decent time frame and the food was excellent. But! Later in the evening there was to be a Birthday Party and whilst we were eating, balloons etc were being put up around us and it was made quite clear from the looks we got from the waitressess we were really in the way and not valued as customers. We saw a couple come in for a meal - regulars from what we saw, and they were turned away quite bruskly. Comment/look from one waitress to another was dismissive and again no value put on the customers. We live 5 minutes walk away and hearing that the pub was under new management thought to give it a go.Would need some convincing to try it again and I will be telling my local friends. A real pity since as I mentioned, when we went in earlier in the week, the lassie behind the bar was so very helpful and friendly.

Went here for first time couple of weeks ago, had Sunday Lunch.....Best Roast Potatoes ever, meat superb and plenty of it.....have been back there since and will carry on going. Situated right on Watford Heath no passing trafic when eating outside...

Royal Oak rb Watford Good roasts, friendly atmosphere
Went to Royal Oak, Watford Heath, for first time on Sunday. Pleasant, friendly atmosphere with helpful staff who knew their stuff. Nice selection of beers and very decent roast for the price (great gravy!). Looks like lots of interesting ideas happining or coming up, like farmers' market, live music, etc. Would definitely recommend this place and wish my local was more like it!

Royal Oak Roger Brooks Watford Best steak in ages
met up here with an old friend for a catch up chat.first impression very favourable nice beer and can honestly say the best steak and homemade chips in a long time, however,big screen tvs dominate the bar, do you really need two?and the music playing over the football was just ridiculous, this pub needs to decide what its target audience is,my advice turn off the music ditch the tvs promote your supurb chef/food/ beer and watch the place fill with happy punters,

Royal Oak Amber Watford Under new ownership and better for it!
The food is excellent and a bit different than what you normally expect for 'pub grub'. There is a very good smoking area and the place feels generally more hospitable than it did a few months ago. Would definitely recommend, especially for the excellent food.

Royal Oak Barbara Watford Amazing food
Food is absolutely superb. The menu is not long, and the food takes a little longer to appear than in some places, but that is only because it is freshly cooked. The steak and the chicken which are both served on risotto are both melt in the mouth and highly recomended.

Royal Oak B Stephens Watford Good and bad....
Nice food, nice place, very poor service. It seems to be staffed by amateurs. Our waitress didn't know the soup of the day, had to go and ask the chef. Brought the main meal but we had to ask for more cutlery, didn't even offer us a dessert so we didn't bother. The food was good and that's the most important thing I guess.

Essex Arms Laura Watford Nice to meet with friends for a post-work drink
The food is okay, but like all chain pubs it is overpriced for what it is, as generally meat is dry etc The drinks are reasonably priced, there is a good mix of people and there is plenty of seating. On cold nights the fireplace (which is a real log burning fireplace) is lovely. Like all ember inns pubs it has a deliberate cosy feel.

A fantastic pub for people of all ages with superb food and service. This is a well run pub aswell and is always clean with very helpfull staff. I can't say enough about this pub i come from romford in essex and come up to watford a lot and the place just gets better.

Estcourt Tavern Jamie Putman Watford Superb Food!
Wow, what a great meal! I'm a chef by trade and so,naturally quite fussy when i eat out, but this place was superb. Compliments to the chef! Oh, and the wine was also delicious.
