Charlie's Bar Anonymous Brentwood
I went into Charlies bar yesterday with my friend and her small child. We recieved a very warm welcome and the staff were very accomodating with our requests for food for the child. The standard of the food was good. I will certainly be returning and would not hesitate to recommend it to others

Alma Arms Carrie Kelly Brentwood Nice welcome home - not!
I was with my 38 year old sister, a local tennis coach. I am 48 yrs old and have an 11 year old son who looks 15. My 72 yr old mother was also with us. My son and I are visiting from NZ. Imagine my horror when we were rudely quizzed as to my son's age when we entered the restaurant and when I said 11 (I am honest) were told we were not welcome. It was a quiet Monday evening and this attitude made no sense whatsoever. Sincerely hope my stay gets better on the welcome front.

Alma Arms Carol Brentwood Christmas menu
As a group of reinds we have been to the Alma for the past 4 or 5 years for a Xmas get together and have had a good meal and execellent time. This year the food was not not to usual hgih standard, the starter to pate was very salty, the turkey roast was salty and the vegetable hot pot dry. The bread and butter pudding was cold and when requested to be reheated was not renwee but the two portions were literally re heated and returned - not to worry that we had both had a mouthful!! The attitude of the the enior staff was the most upsetting part of theevening we were not requesting or suggesting arefund or no payment but expressing our disappointment. The person I spoke with had had no heard the expression the customer is always right. Prior reputation does not stand good in the current climate and a decent apology would have gone a long way. Less customer for next year I fear.

The Swan Brnetwood has musical duo's every Sunday Night playing some execellent music across a range of genre's. The company is friendly and the landlady is welcoming and friendly, and running a no nonsense pub. Excellent garden facility for enjoying the weather and the beer. Worth a Visit.

I used to visit the swan when the old landlord (Duncan) was there and it was awesome. The new landlady(South African lady) is a bit miserable with a lack of customer care. The real ale is still good though not as much range.

Nags Head MD Brentwood -
Food Superb but lacked consistent customer service. on the first visit (bank holiday sunday), service was poor and staff quite unfriendly. on the second visit (Tuesday), staff were good and service prompt. Food was superb on both occasions, although noise levels were high due to low ceilings, which made conversation difficult.

Visited on a quiet Thursday evening just before Christmas. Enjoyed an excellent Steak & Stilton pe though I thought the chips had probably been reheated. Tried 2 out of the 3 cask ales on offer. Both in tip top condition. Overall an exccelent experience and well worth the journey

Nags Head Den Brentwood Basic manners cost nothing!
Visited on a Sunday lunchtime. Food was OK, young people behind the bar were really polite and tried their best, but were a little slow bringing the drinks. Unfortunately the manager thought was OK to berate and belittle his staff in front of customers. He also left me waiting around 5 or 6 minutes to pay my tab(£45!!), but did not have the common decency to say 'please' or 'thank you' when serving me. Probably better off taking your hard earned cash somewhere where it will be more appreciated.

I go here regularly for food and drinks and have never been disappointed by the outstanding service and good quality of food. A young lad called Tom provides an extremely efficient and competent service as a young waitor in the restaurant part of the pub and he has become a good friend of ours.

Black Horse Barry Boyte Brentwood Visit
I visited this establishment for a drink last Friday to be told that I could only sit in the smoking section as I was not eating. As a non-smoker I objected to that as this is a pub and the culture and reception of establishments dealing with smoking is changing drastically countrywide. If the place had been busy, that would have been another matter. all they did was ignore my argument and point out that it was Friday. I shall be reporting this incident to their head office in due course.
